PHOCOMELIA 

 

1.     Isolated.

o        Idiopathic (most cases).

o        Amniotic band syndrome.

2.     Thalidomide.

3.     Roberts-SC phocomelia.

4.     TAR syndrome.

5.     Grebe syndrome.

 

Phocomelia

Proximal reduction with distal parts attached to trunk. The extremities resemble those of a seal.

Typically the hands and feet are present (they may be normal or abnormal), but the intervening arms and legs are absent.    

Hemimelia

 

Absence of distal parts.

Amelia

Absence of limbs.
