1. Normal chorio-decidual reaction.
o Variable appearance.
o Usually thick and well defined.

2. Abnormal chorio-decidual reaction.
o Thin and/or weakly echogenic tissue (correlates with abnormal gestational development.
o Irregular or incomplete reaction.
o Absent double decidual reaction.
o Some non-viable first trimester pregnancies may rarely show marked thickening of the chorionic tissue secondary to hydropic degeneration of the villi.
