SUPRAVENTRICULAR
TACHYCARDIA |
With the exception of sinus tachycardias, supraventricular tachycardia is
the most common fetal tachycardia.
ETIOLOGY |
ULTRASOUND |
Rate = 240-260 beats/min.
Any rate outside this range probably represents an arrhythmia other than an
atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia.
Fetal hydrops may be present.
If sustained fetal hydrops or death may occur.
5-10% have associated structural fetal anomalies (poorer prognosis).
Doppler studies of IVC flow during atrial ectopy and during sustained
supraventricular tachycardia demonstrate prominent retrograde flow into the
hepatic circulation.
