DIPROSOPUS
TWINNING |
- Rare symmetrical type of conjoined twinning.
- <1%.
- Single body.
- Spectrum of duplication of craniofacial structures:
- Mildest form there may be duplication of the nose alone.
- In its severest form two complete faces are present.
- Tetraophthalmos:
- Four eyes.
- Two medial eyes may be completely separated or fused.
- Associated anomalies demonstrated in our case include anencephaly and a large open spinal defect in the lumbar region.

Diprosopus
twinning: Two partially fused heads.
One body with two arms and two legs. |

CT scan - Medial and lateral orbits on both sides with extensive
bony union between medial and lateral orbits on each side. |
||
|
|
|
|
Tetraophthalmos - Four eyes due to partial separation of both heads. Two noses with four
nostrils. Fused mouth with inferior cleft. |
