OCCIPITOPOSTERIOR PRESENTATION

This is easily detected sonographically, as both orbits and facial structures face anteriorly. The majority of fetuses will rotate normally to the normal occiput anterior position, while the rest will deliver in the occiput posterior position. In cases of fetal macrosomia and arrested labor, cesarean section may be necessary in fetuses that are in the occiput posterior position (1).
