- Imaging Plane: Base of the skull
at the level of the temporal and sphenoidal bones is the preferred plane.
- Anatomy.
- Give rise to the
frontal polar and medial orbits frontal artery.
- After they are linked
by the anterior communicating artery, the pericallosal artery arises.
- It proceeds on the
dorsal surface (top) of the corpus callosum turning up and ending as the
precuneal artery, turning on to the outer surface of the hemisphere.
- Pericallosal artery.
- Emerges just after the
anterior communicating artery link.
- Runs on the dorsal (top)
surface of the corpus callosum.
- Turns and ends in the
precuneal artery.
- Arises from the pericallosal
artery at the level of the genu of the corpus callosum.
- Runs in the cingulate sulcus,
above the cingulate gyrus.
- It also turns upward and ends
in its marginal branch, the paracentral artery.
- Waveform.
- Fall in PI in the 3rd
trimester.
- PI of proximal ACA is
significantly different from the PI of the MCA, but not significantly
different from the PI of the ICA.
