ULTRASOUND

1. Ventricular Atrium

• Normal Anatomy.
• Portion of the lateral ventricle that is connected anteriorly to the body, posteriorly to the occipital horn and inferiorly to the inferior horn of the lateral ventricle.
• Glomus of choroid plexus completely fills the ventricular atrium touching the lateral walls.

2. Posterior Horn

• Extremely important part of the lateral ventricles and is considered to be the most sensitive indicator of early ventriculomegaly.

1. Cerebroatrial distance (CAD).
   Increases as pregnancy progresses due to growth of the cerebral hemispheres.
2. Atrial width/ HW ratio.
   Decreases as pregnancy progresses, as the relative size of the atria decrease with brain growth.

   Decreases as pregnancy progresses, as the relative size of the atria decrease with brain growth.

Normal ventricular atrium Choroid plexus occupies the entire ventricle at the level of the glomus.
Hanging choroid plexus sign. Ventriculomegaly with far field choroid hanging. Aqueductal stenosis.
